Piccadilly Motors exits Fiat and Abarth new car sales franchise

Piccadilly Motors will officially exit the Fiat and Abarth new car sales franchises when is closes the doors to its Ripon dealership this week.

Customers of the retail group were informed on April 13 that the business on Dallamires Lane, Ripon, would close for the last time this Friday, April 28.

The closure leaves Knaresborough-based Piccadilly as a single-brand operation, with Kia dealerships located in Knaresborough and Wakefield.

Its Knaresborough dealership – 10 miles away – will continue to offer Fiat, Abarth and Alfa Romeo aftersales.

Customers looking to buy a new car from the Stellantis-owned brands will have to travel to SG Petch in York or Arnold Clark in Leeds, however.

The Harrogate Advertiser reported that Piccadilly’s Knaresborough site had recently been expanded and updated, offering ample parking, on site MOT facilities, electric vehicle (EV) charge points and while-you-wait servicing.

Fiat revealed in May last year that it would end the sales of all non-electrified vehicles in the UK from July 1.

The brand made the move three months after it completed the electrification of its full model range with the arrival of new versions of its 500X crossover and Tipo hatchback.

Its only full EV, the new Fiat 500 EV, offers customers 24kWh or 42kWh battery options, that latter giving a maximum driving range of up to 199 miles (WLTP).

November brough the opening of order books for the new Abarth 500e, meanwhile.

The zero emissions hot hatch is equipped with a powerful 42kWh battery and an electric motor delivering 155PS, resulting in a seven second acceleration time from zero to 62mph.
