Lloyd Motor Group strengthens York headcount

Lloyd Motor Group is expanding its York operation with 25 new jobs, to strengthen its long-term growth strategy.

The motor retail group acquired the site, from Inchape in 2021, as part of a ‘significant’ investment in the Jaguar and Land Rover brands.

Lloyd Motor Group operates in 32 locations across Northern England and Southern Scotland and employs over 1,200 people. It achieved a turnover of £645.7 million to move up to 26th in the AM100 2022.

The group’s recently opened customer contact centre, in York, will be utilised by four of its sites in the coming years across the Yorkshire and Northumberland area, for incoming and outgoing service bookings.

Additional positions are needed in the workshop after Lloyd York was awarded Rapid Recovery Centre status. This JLR initiative prioritises the retailer as the official recovery specialist in the Yorkshire area.

David McIntyre, head of business of Lloyd JLR York, said: “This expansion offers an exciting opportunity for Lloyd Motor Group to strengthen further and expand its offering in York. These new opportunities will take the staff numbers at York from just under 80 to over 100.”

As part of its recruitment drive, Lloyd Jaguar Land Rover York will hold a recruitment open day on Monday, January 16. 2023. Positions available include sales executives, service advisors, showroom hosts, vehicle technicians, customer experience advisors and parts and technician apprentices.

McIntyre added: “The site’s potential has been growing rapidly since Lloyd Motor Group’s acquisition in July 2021, and we have more exciting growth plans for 2023. Our long-term strategy is to lead the market.”

Lloyd Motor Group is planning to create a Kia and Volvo multi-brand car dealership on the outskirts of Kendal to unite two franchise points added through acquisitions in 2022.
