Donalds Group expands with Wright’s Mazda Norwich dealership acquisition

Donalds Group has continued its recent growth drive with the acquisition of Wright’s Mazda in Norwich, its fourth franchised car dealership with the Japanese brand.

The Peterborough-based Kia, Mazda, MG and Volvo retailer is already planning upgrades to the workshop facilities at the new Cromer Road business, which expands its portfolio of dealership locations to eight sites in Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk.

New of the acquisition comes just two months after Donalds announced that it had taken over the operation of the Kia UK Ipswich dealership formerly operated by Marshall Motor Group.

Its new Mazda franchise joins the group’s existing Mazda sites Bury St Edmunds, Ipswich and Peterborough.

Managing director Graham Wemyss said: “Donalds opened its first Mazda Dealership back in 1980, so we’re perfectly placed to represent the brand and its superb vehicles in Norwich.

“This is our first presence in the county of Norfolk – alongside existing outlets in Cambridgeshire and Suffolk, and it means we now cover all of East Anglia. We’re really looking forward to welcoming customers old and new to our fantastic new dealership.”

While Donalds confirmed that it will be employing the entire Wright’s Mazda Norwich workforce, it revealed that it will also launch a recruitment drive.

Wemyss said: “Mazda is one of the most exciting car brands in the country with a range that provides something for everyone, from the premium, crafted in Japan, all-New CX-60 hybrid SUV to the iconic MX-5 roadster – all designed not just to get from A to B but for sheer driving pleasure.

“These fantastic vehicles were already available to customers in the Norwich area but by taking over this franchise we’re adding Donalds’ renowned standards of customer service for both sales and after-care to the mix.”
