John Clark Motor Group is opening a new Volvo showroom in Edinburgh to replace its existing business in the city.
The new Volvo Cars Edinburgh will open its doors for sales, servicing, MoT tests and repairs in January, moving from its current home, on Glasgow Road, to a purpose built site on Longhead Drive, Newbridge.
It follows an investment by the dealer group, last year, to transform its former BMW Tayside dealership into a new Volvo Car UK dealership in Dundee.
The new multi-million-pound Edinburgh showroom will feature Volvo’s signature lounge area, complete Scandinavian furniture and free Wi-Fi. There’s also an interior viewing window that allows customers to see all activity in the new workshops.
Bryan Muir, head of business at Volvo Cars Edinburgh, said: “Our goal here at Volvo Cars Edinburgh has always been to ensure our customers receive the best service, and our new showroom will highlight that – offering an enjoyable and premium experience for everyone.
“The showroom has been designed with the customer in mind throughout – from selecting their vehicle to maintaining it over the years. Recognising the growing demand for electric vehicles, our new home will offer a number of electric vehicle charging points, as well as a range of plug-in hybrid models to choose from – along with our petrol and diesel models.
“We’re delighted to be representing Volvo Cars UK in Edinburgh with our new state-of-the-art showroom and are looking forward to welcoming both new and existing customers to enjoy our new home.”
The retailer will also offer a streamlined service to car owners which halves waiting times. The Volvo Personal Service sees the same technician liaising with the customer from the point of booking, right through to explaining the services – which they themselves have carried out. Two technicians work together on each car, reducing the time it takes for the service to be fulfilled.
Volvo has set a target of becoming a wholly EV brand, selling its vehicles 100% online by 2030.
In June the Geely-owned Swedish premium carmaker followed its recent launch of direct-to-consumer online used car sales with the launch of Volvo Fleet and Business Online following a successful pilot scheme.
It currently has two zero-emissions vehicles on the market, the XC40 Recharge and C40 Recharge which reached UK showrooms this summer.
